BEFORE Picture Day

• Vacuum carpets, mop hard-surface floors, dust or wet-wipe window blinds, ceiling fans, light fixtures, lamps, decorative items, etc.

• Clear away all clutter and clean counters. Put small appliances away.

• Leave the toaster and coffee maker on the counter.

• Clean all surface areas, including cabinet fronts, appliances, range hood, sink and backsplash.

• Clear refrigerator of all artwork, magnets, notes and cards.

• Declutter and unpersonalize.

• Clear tabletops and counters of all papers, magazines, books, remote controls and other clutter.

• Clean bathroom sinks, tubs and showers, mirrors and glass.

• Remove all shampoo bottles, cleansers, razors and other personal grooming items except liquid soap bottles at sinks.

• Fold all towels neatly and hang on towel bars.

• Make beds with bedding that fits. Decorative pillows add color.

• Remove all items stored under beds. The camera can see them.

• Clear night stands and dressers of books, electronics and clutter.

• Keep a lamp and a small floral arrangement or a book.

• Check all light fixtures, lamps and ceiling fans. Replace any burned out bulbs.

• Clean windows thoroughly. The camera can see streaks and dirt.

• The front of your home is your first impression online.

• Stage the front door with a clean, new door mat.

• Add a door wreath, flowers or other decorative items to the entry.

• Clean all glass in doors.

• Sweep the front porch and steps.

• Sweep the back patio and deck.

• Tidy up the yard. Trim bushes, weed beds and add fresh mulch.

• Clear the lawn of toys and bikes.
